Mason’s Journey: A Powerful Story of Survival

Mason’s story is a testament to the strength of children who survive life-altering lawn mower accidents. Children like him are an inspiration to us, and why we work so hard to advocate for lawn mower safety.

Told by his father, Kevin, learn more about this young warrior. “Mason was involved in a lawn mower accident in September of 2021 when he was 3. It resulted in an above knee amputation and loss of 2 fingers. I was in Washington DC for work and flew back to meet my wife and family when he came out of surgery at Mayo in Rochester, MN.”

During Mason’s 6 week stay at Mayo Hospital, his family reached out to Tate’s Army for resources and support. Mason’s father said that Ryan provided him encouraging words and hope for the future.

Since his accident, his father says that he, “…shows us every day that he can do anything he puts his mind to. He is now 6, and played baseball this summer.” Mason enjoys playing with his sisters and going swimming. He plans on playing flag football this fall.

The Tate’s Army board was honored to invite Mason and his family to our 6th annual golf outing. His family was able to talk about how far he has come since his accident and how resilient he is. Afterwards, Mason’s father said, “It was a great opportunity to be apart of a great organization that educates and promotes lawn mower safety! Mason got introduced and we got to talk about Mason and how far he has come and how strong and resilient he is! Mason was very excited and talked about Tate all the way home.”

Thank you for helping us support Mason’s family. Your commitment to our mission helped Mason and Tate connect with another young boy like themselves.
